Allday Golden Retrievers was formed around 1997. I was expecting the birth of my son and researched various breeds to find the next dog for our new family. Goldens had everything that we wanted in a dog. They were portrayed as a family dog and that’s the truth. In my opinion, there is no better family dog. Mickey immediately brought us a joy that no other dog had ever given and my first thought was “We have to share this miracle of love called the Golden Retriever.”

We began this journey about two miles west of Selma’s city limits in what is called Marion Junction but we always referred to it as Selma because the Selma Post Office was much closer than the other post office. In twenty-five years, my life has seen changes, including selling that house and moving to a small humble abode on the Alabama River in Selma. This area is beautiful and safe. As it turns out, my great great great Grandfather Richard Allday owned around 80 acres almost 200 years ago about five miles downstream where Bogue Chitto Creek merges with the River.

I put a lot of time, effort and research into gaining some good bloodlines in the Golden Retriever Breed over the years. All four of my Sunny’s grandparents had at least one AKC title, and sometimes three. He lived to 14 years of age and his mother lived to be 17. Even though he passed a number of years ago, several of his granddaughters are with me now. My sire Solomon also has great lines in his pedigrees, such as Master and Senior Hunters, Companion and Utility Titles.

Also, to my knowledge, none of my clients have had to deal with hip dysplasia. After all of these years, that’s quite an accomplishment considering so many people talk about it. Each year, I have second generation families coming to see me who got their golden from me a decade to 14 years before. I have one family coming to see me soon who will be getting their third generation Golden Retriever from me.

Now, I’m starting to feel old. I may be old, but I am experienced.
