In our early days, Pat Simpson stopped by for a visit with full intention of getting a golden retriever puppy from us. I knew he was a celebrity and I soon learned that he was also a wonderful person.
In his early days, Pat hosted a television series called Backyard America on TNN. When HGTV first launched in 1994, Pat along with all of his handyman experience, hosted one of their first series – Fix-It-Up! He later became host and director of two other hit series – Room to Improve and Before & After.
I can tell you that this man is an incredible person and it was a great blessing for us to meet him. Let me tell you, he did not hesitate to visit my two kid’s and other children and teachers at Meadowview Elementary School in Selma, Alabama. Everyone was so excited to meet a star! Bring a celebrity and a Golden Retriever Puppy into an elemetry school, and everyone’s happy!
Pat had such a laid back and humble nature about him. Many stars do not have that today, but he certainly possessed some great personality traits and he therefore rose to the top honestly.
Pat’s a born native of the south. He is retired from the television industry and living in Orange Beach, Florida. He still can be booked for speaking engagements for a fee of only around $5000 to $10,000. I believe he is worth every penny!
If you read this Pat, thanks so much for spending half your day with us and the kids at the school. You certainly made a lot of people’s day! And, your photo stayed on the school bulletin board for years.
